To transfer files to and from your website, you will need to use 'FTP Software' - this is fairly simple software that allows you to copy files from your computer over to the server.

You will need the server address, username, password and path - for example:

Host: www.fallingfireball.co.uk
Username: username
Password: ********
Path: \htdocs\uploads

  1. Download and install Core FTP from: http://www.coreftp.com/download/coreftplite.exe
  2. Open Core FTP - you will be asked a few questions to which you can answer Yes
  3. You will then be asked to fill in the details to connect to the site
  4. Enter the Host, Username and Password then click on Connect
  5. You will notice the window is split into two - the left shows files and folders on your computer - locate the directory of the files you want to upload
  6. In the window to the right, you can see the files and folders on the server, simply select the folder you require - or cut and paste the path in the box just below where you can see the list of files on the server
  7. To transfer the files, simply drag them from the left window, to the right window - the files will then copy over to the server.
